Ashley Goodall on The Problem with Change

Sit in on this collaborative interview as we search for the middle way of changing well

Hi friend!

My goodness, there’s so much we could be doing better.

Change for the better feels great, especially when it’s a change that you choose and that benefits you in simple, direct ways.

More often, though, change at work can feel overwhelming—whether you're managing it, living through it, or leading others through it. Adding insult to the disruptive injury, many workplace changes fail to benefit anyone.

Knowing how often these grand change initiatives bring more pain than parties, Ashley Goodall decided to dig into a disquieting truth. We have a problem with change.

Last week, I hosted an insights exchange with Ashley about his new book The Problem with Change. Check out the recording below to hear what he’s learned about how organizations can create stability amidst disruption, the power of rituals in reinforcing values, and why we should rethink the role of middle managers. This conversation is packed with practical insights on how to navigate change thoughtfully and in a way that’s good for all us humans caught in blender.
